Does having chickens make me a country girl?
Hubby: Green acres is the place for me. Farm livin’ is the life for me. Land spreadin’ out so far and wide. Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.
Me: New York is where I’d rather stay. I get allergic smelling hay. I just adore a penthouse view. Dah-ling I love you but give me Park Avenue.
Hubby: …The chores Me: …The stores Hubby: …Fresh air Me: …Times Square
Hubby: You are my wife. Me: Good bye, city life. Us: Green Acres we are there.
We’ve had chickens for about 2 years, but recently added to our brood. All in total we have 10 hens: Clucky, C-Chick, Goldie, Barbeque, Spike, Drumsticks, Chicken Nuggets, Chicken Select, Wings and Omelet. What’s that? Why yes, the boys did pick out their names. How did you guess?
This is our greenhouse-turned-chicken-coop we inherited when we bought our house.
Our chickens get very excited when we visit them, which we do a couple of times a day. They love company. They run up to us clucking around our feet, saying hello, asking what we’ve been doing, and of course asking if we’ve brought them any yummy apples or veggie scraps.
Here is my oldest with his favorite hen named Clucky. She’s one of the bossiest of the hens, and loves telling all the others what to do.

The back section of the hen house has a screened area where the ladies can go outside and catch some rays. Here’s one of Clucky’s friends named Goldie coming outside to see what all the ruckus is about. She’s so nosy. She’s the go-to girl for all the latest gossip around the hen house.

Look what my youngest found - breakfast!

Oh listen, Omelet and C-Chick are telling a joke…

Omelet : “Is chicken soup good for your health?”
C-Chick “Not if you’re the chicken!”
Ha! I get it! Good one girls!

Oh, we definitely need a few chickens…and a cow would be nice too!!!
Visiting from PR website. I’ll be back!!!
Oh NO! Between you and Dottie I have a feeling Bobby’s REALLY going to start feeling left out and we’ll wind up with chickens, also! Back before Dottie & Alex moved, he was trying his best to find them a place near us so he could buy all kinds of animals for Dottie to take care of! After we took the “tour de coop” around Raleigh’s beltline this spring he kept leaving up listings of chickens on Craig’s list. And I made the mistake of taking him to the grocery store last night when I had eggs on my list….
Wow, you have been busy on your blog!!!! Good posts! I love the names of the chickens…cute pics.
