A New Apron from Old Jeans

Friday, April 11th, 2008

I had a lot of fun making this apron, and I love how it turned out.  It is just the cutest thing and I almost love it too much to get it dirty. The denim front is from an itty bitty pair of Calvins that I’ll never get my post-baby hips into. Rather than continue the delusion that I’ll someday fit into them, I took my scissors to them and transformed the backside of the jeans into the front of the apron. The other part of the apron is made up of a gauze type material skirt. To finish it off, I added a satin ribbon for the tie.

I think I am going to use this for a gardening apron - I love the pockets and think they will come in really handy!

Wonderful, Wild, and Whimsical Wisteria

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

M and I went on a nature walk yesterday in the woods around our property. During our walk we came across a blooming wisteria vine and brought some home to enjoy. I wish your computer screen had a scratch-and-sniff ability because this bouquet smells wonderful.

I also added some petals to a little bowl and set them in our downstairs bathroom.

Wisteria Petals

I am going to plant some of the seeds around our property and see if I can grow our own. I’ve read it can take 8-10 years for a Wisteria to bloom, but for me, it is well worth the wait!
